We created Misfit Island, LLC back in 2022 for a rough idea in the future of helping others. We also thought it would be good to structure ourselves in a way to become self-sufficient, being totally reliant on God.
Our Farm is nothing more than a house, a small apartment and two cabins with a few chickens, two dogs, and a cat at this point. But the dream is to provide a rest bit for weary travelers in life’s journey. We envision several more cabins and living quarters, an outdoor kitchen to congregate teach yoga classes, and other healing modalities. All of this with Christ as the foundation. This will become a place of healing, a place of safety for misfits, where we can all participate in creating Zion in our hearts, homes, and communities.
My personal Why is much the same as a lot of property owners around. It is that God led my family here. For some reason back in 2015 I was prompted to move to Missouri with my family. Through many ups and downs in our lives, moving to Missouri was a constant drive in my heart. It wasn’t until we got out here (5 years after that first prompting) that I realized what this farm would be used for.
I had seen images or visions of what the farm would eventually become (it is still becoming). To become that safe space for followers of Christ to find refuge from the storms of life. There are cabins to rest in, an outdoor yoga studio to practice mediation, outdoor kitchen, pool, hot tub and mother nature. Much is still in the planning phases.
But the WHY is because my family has been asked to prepare for those who seek peace. So we are trying to follow those promptings. – M
