I have been taught all my life that “Straight is the Gate and Narrow is the path that leads to eternal life, and few there be that find it.” (Matthew 7:13-14)
Hearing this all my life I had a vision of a picket fence gate and the stone path that lead onward. That path had to be walked carefully.
I always assumed it HAD to be the same path for everyone. I assume once you get to a certain point of enlightenment, the path truly does become very similar for those closest to the goal. But I have come now to see it as a ball of yarn. This ball of yarn has an individual strand per person in the world. That the Ball of Yarn at the center is actually Christ. And there are billions of individual threads coming out of the ball of yarn, representing each of us.
Pull that individual thread tight enough to be a straight line directly to the ball of yarn. There are so many taut threads and each is the individuals “narrow path”. He meets you where you are at and has an individual plan for each of us. So we need to honor each others path.
We may not walk for someone else, but we can help them pick up their thread to get back home.
